Shortcake

On the road to recovery

Shortcake came to us from the Guilford County Shelter, and while we don’t know much about her past, we are absolutely certain about her future: it will be filled with love, safety and dignity.

At just 9 pounds, this sweet 12 year old is completely blind and suffers from dry eye, meaning she’ll need prescription drops twice a day for life. She also has four small masses and one large mammary mass, which will require two separate surgeries, during which she’ll be spayed and have her entire mammary chain removed. A full dental procedure will follow to relieve her discomfort and give her the healthy mouth she deserves.

Shortcake is not currently available for adoption. Instead, she will be going to a specialty foster home where she can recover safely with expert care and lots of love.

Her journey will be long and her needs complex, but our commitment to her is unwavering.
